The Living Rent Campaign will have a stall here too! Come and question our representatives on what they will do about the housing crisis in Hove. In this area we have seen mainly developments that are designed for the luxury market and ordinary people have been priced out.
Public Meeting organised by Hove & Portslade Labour Party
12 May 9.30 am to 1.30 pm Brunswick Primary School – Somerhill Rd, Hove BN3 1RP
If you are concerned about housing in Hove, come along to this meeting to hear the facts, share your views and help us develop solutions.
…plus an advice Market Place of organisations that can help with your housing queries.
John Healey – Shadow Housing Minister
Claire Moonan – Councillor for Central Hove
Andy Winter – Chief Executive, Brighton Housing Trust Chair:
Chair: Peter Kyle – MP for Hove
At the ‘Housing in Crisis’ meeting, we agreed to work together to fight against the decimation of social housing, soaring private rents and homelessness.
We know there are plenty of solutions to the problems but so far no political will. There is a determination to sell off what is left of social housing and an obsession with home ownership, most of which is beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Please come along on Wednesday and bring your ideas for a plan of action.

Our housing rights are under attack – now more than ever before.
Over the past decades we have faced sky-high house prices, soaring rents
and now the social cleansing of our cities, with benefits for those in need capped and cut. There is less and less help for the increasing number who find themselves homeless. Deaths on the streets are becoming commonplace.
Why is it happening? And what can we do about it? Join in the discussion.

Housing Association Right to Buy – Say NO! – Petition
The Conservative government has proposed a ‘Right to Buy’ bill which will force Housing Associations to sell off their housing stock at a discount.
This policy would decimate the remaining provision of genuinely affordable social housing in the UK, and turn the housing crisis into a catastrophe. The campaign has set up a new petition calling on our local MP’s to oppose this bill
Say no to the forced sale of social housing in Brighton and Hove
Please sign the Petition and forward to your friends:
There is hope from the House of Lords where an amendment to the charities bill could scupper this planned sell-off.
